Yoga Teacher Un-Training

Easy is right. Begin right and you are easy. Continue easy and you are right. The right way to go easy is to forget the right way and to forget that the going is easy.

Greetings Everyone!

One of the unanticipated blessings of the covid crisis is that it has caused a re-examination of many different societal structures and the way that we are living our lives, both individually and collectively. It has prompted questions about what is essential, what matters, and what is sustainable across many different levels. And in the midst of so much suffering, anxiety, and uncertainty there is still a palpable sense of hope about the possibility of re-shaping our world into a better place. It seems that in several instances, the emergence of new ways of thinking is coinciding with the erosion of obsolete ways that haven’t been working for a long time. This has certainly been the case for my vocation because if there is one thing that has become abundantly clear to me over the past several months, it is that the world does not need any more yoga teachers. There, I said it. You might think that this sounds completely self-sabotaging to a place that formerly considered itself a yoga school, but I mean it wholeheartedly. The world does not need any more people spouting disembodied truths and esoteric theories. The world desperately needs, however, people who can regulate their nervous system and emanate peace.

And so it is with this intention that I am quite proud to announce a brand new program that has been germinating in my heart and mind for quite some time, the first ever Yoga Teacher Un-Training. This 100-hour immersion course will take place over a six-month period beginning in October 2020. I designed it for people who have no aspiration to become a yoga teacher but who are sincerely interested in holistic well-being. It is also perfectly suitable for those already teaching yoga or other mindfulness modalities who are wanting to deepen their understanding of the body/mind. It is definitely not for people who are eager to earn a worthless paper certificate just so that they can register with Yoga Alliance and put a few meaningless letters behind their name. This course is about becoming more fully and authentically human.

You can read all about it and even sign up by clicking on the big button below. Note that while the program was designed to be taken in its entirety, it is also open to people whose schedule only permits them to participate in certain modules. Also, thanks to our new Zoom technology, there will be both in-person and online study options available. I hope that you will consider joining me on this path; it promises to be a very rich and rewarding experience.

Take care,

Geoffrey
