Exciting Events and Announcements!

The problem today is with ‘trying.’ This word is mis-used. It used to mean ‘try,’ as in experiment, have a go, find out. Now it means ‘try,’ as in use all the energy you’ve got.

Greetings Everyone!

I am thrilled to announce that Yoga Teacher Un-Training is now open for registration. This 6-month immersion program is an honest inquiry into the relevance of yoga practices for our modern times. It is by far the most rewarding course that I’ve ever taught, mainly because it allows me to present only the techniques and principles that have proven useful to me and my students for the past 20 years. Before I became unbound and had to follow arbitrary rules and guidelines set forth by Yoga Alliance, I frequently overheard myself saying things that I didn’t fully believe in. Now I’ve had a tremendous resurgence in teaching energy because I find myself focused on sharing things that I know to be true from my embodied experience. If you are interested in a mindfulness-based approach to holistic health, then I hope that you’ll consider joining me on what promises to be a highly rewarding and deeply enriching journey. I am limiting the number of students to just 12 so as to ensure proper spacing in the studio as well as individualized support. However, I am also offering an online option for those who live remotely. So this is an exciting first foray into a hybrid model of experiential education. You can read all about it and sign up right now by clicking below.

In other news, I am quite pleased that registration is officially open for the Fall Retreat in Grayton Beach, Florida. We had such a terrific time on the spring retreat even though the studio that we practiced in wasn’t optimal for a group our size. So I was elated to discover Studio Thirty-A, a spacious and serene venue that is even closer to New Orleans. This will be 4 days of inspiration and rejuvenation that you will not want to miss out on. Mark September 23-26, 2021 on your calendar and reserve your spot now by clicking on the other big button below.

Two final announcements that I’m certain will make you smile. First, Tamarin Hennebury will now be offering her signature class, Yoga Nectar, as an in-person rather than online event starting this Saturday, July 10. As with the rest of the public classes on our schedule, space is limited to just 12 students. So while I never like to insist on pre-registration for fear of dampening the spontaneity that yoga contains, I will say that it is strongly encouraged if you want to be guaranteed a spot. Second, I’m leaving town this week to lead the summer retreat out in Stanley, Idaho, but I’ve posted a bunch of pre-recorded online classes to our schedule. Check out “Geoffrey’s ‘Best of’ Series.” You can sign up for it just like any regular class, and you will instantly receive a confirmation email containing the recording link. I hope that by revisiting these well-being gems, your practice will keep chugging along in my absence.

I hope to see you in the virtual or actual studio soon!

Take care,

Geoffrey

Greetings Everyone!

Ever since moving back to New Orleans from the San Francisco Bay Area I have been searching for a retreat destination that’s far enough away so as to remove us from our everyday lives, but close enough that it can be accessed for a long weekend. And after dreaming, experimenting, and searching for the past decade, I am pleased to announce that I have finally found such a place. Sculpt Studio, in the charming town of Seagrove Beach, Florida on scenic Highway 30-A, was custom-built by a charming husband and wife duo to host wellness events like the ones I conduct. I am thrilled to have connected with them, and I am so excited about leading a retreat at a gorgeous beach setting that only requires a fairly short drive from New Orleans as opposed to an all-day travel affair to Tulum or Costa Rica. If any of this sounds alluring, then I would like to cordially invite you to join me for this year’s Spring Retreat in Seagrove from April 22-25. Unlike previous retreats where I organize the accommodations and food, this one will be a bit different in that I’ve left those aspects up to you. The main advantage to this arrangement is that it provides you more freedom to choose where you’d like to stay and what you’d prefer to eat. It also provides a little more leeway for being with the group or being by yourself. I think it’s a beautiful blend of congregation and private haven. Oh, and did I mention that the yoga is going to be really, really good? Read more about it and claim your spot by clicking below!

One final bit of news: due to the positive response of those who participated in my 4-week breathing course over the holidays, I am happy to announce the inauguration of an ongoing, online Conscious Breathing class that will take place on Mondays from 6:00-6:45pm. It is open to anyone and everyone; you needn’t have a background in yoga or meditation in order to participate. All that’s required is a little time and a little curiosity for you to experience the sanity, clarity, and contentment that naturally arise from attending to your most basic biological function. And remember that you don’t need to join the class at its designated time; each session will be recorded so that you can access it at your convenience.
